The first lecture was given on January 19th, 2018 at 8:00 p.m., at Beth El Temple, a synagogue led by Rabbi Leonid Feldman.
The second lecture was given on January 20th, 2018 at 1:00 p.m., at Palm Beach Synagogue, which Rabbi Moshe Scheiner leads.
This was the keynote speech:
Good evening, my name is Else Cuchet. Shabbat Shalom. Thank you
Rabbi Leonid Feldman,
Rabbi Moshe Scheiner,
for inviting me here to speak tonight / today
West Palm Beach Floridians, we feel so much gratitude for your decision to fly to Guatemala. This significant trip that you are planning will have a great impact on the actual physical relocation of the Guatemalan Embassy back to Jerusalem.
I feel like a Floridian also, because Florida has had an impact in me, since I was young: I studied part of my middle school here at Rosarian Academy, then I graduated from Barry University in Miami, and for a long time, my husband and I have had a company in Miami.
Let me tell you how the decision to relocate the Guatemalan Embassy began:
My husband and I are the Directors of Seize the Nations for Jesus Christ Ministry, which is a Guatemalan based organization working with different Evangelical Christian churches and Organizations at a national and international level.
We are a group of 30 members in Guatemala, all volunteers working actively. Over the years, we have formed a network of contacts with related organizations worldwide.
The purpose of the organization, which was created in 2001, is:
- To invite Christian leaders of different nations and horizons to visit Guatemala and learn about the impact the Evangelical church is having on our nation, so they can replicate the model and experience in their own countries. About 40% of the Guatemalan population (total 17 million) profess the Evangelical Christian faith and are very active church members in their respective communities. There are more than 40,000 Christian Evangelical churches in Guatemala. We consider Guatemala to be the lab for the Christian Evangelical world.
- To unite Evangelical Christians in Guatemala to promote the values and principles of the Bible and the Ten Commandments in all areas of influence in our country (legal system, politics, public life, economy).
- To be a platform of dialogue and exchange of information between the different congregations which represent the Christian Evangelical churches and organizations, through conferences and meetings about topics of common interest.
- Due to our spiritual and theological legacy towards the formation of the Christian Church, one of these topics of common interest and unity among different congregations is Israel.
Therefore, since 2002, our organization has been working towards raising awareness of the importance of Evangelical Christians supporting Israel as a nation.
In 2003, we organized our first conference in Guatemala called “Guatemala: Pray for Israel!“, where Mr. Yacoov Paran (who was back then, the Ambassador of Israel in Guatemala) was our keynote speaker. 500 leaders of Christian churches attended the conference. These 500 leaders represented about 1 million Evangelicals in Guatemala. Please note that we have several Mega Churches in Guatemala, that seat up to 12,000 people at once, and they have 5 to 7 Services on a given Sunday.
In 2004, we organized our second conference in Guatemala called: “Israel Recovered its Land; Church Recover your Place “. Mr. Yacoov Paran was also our keynote speaker. 750 leaders of Christian churches attended the conference. More than 1 million evangelicals were represented.
In 2005, we organized our third conference in Guatemala called “Let’s Unite our Efforts! “, where the Ambassador of Israel to the UN, and also Vice President of the UN was our keynote speaker. His name is Dan Gillerman. 1,000 leaders of Christian churches attended the conference. In this conference, I showed the church how much power each church and Organization had individually, and how much influence we could all have if we all act as one. I showed them, that we had Christian Evangelical: TV Stations, radio stations, newspapers, magazines, schools, universities, many companies of all sorts, churches with a lot of space, that could be used as relief centers for any given situation, etc. There is no city, no town, no village, no place in Guatemala where you cannot find one or several Christian Evangelical churches. I also talked about the quantity of Christians we had in Guatemala and that if we united, we could even put in power a Christian President with biblical values who could improve the state of our nation.
We started to see this kind of influence when we all elected President Morales in November 2015.
On September 2016, we formed a Coalition pro-Israel, to express our discontent to the press in Guatemala, with the resolutions the UNESCO was giving against Israel.
The harassment against Israel continued with the Peace Summit organized to take place in Paris on January 15th, 2017, where 70 countries would meet, to again try to crush Israel.
One year ago on January 14th, we organized a meeting with the Coalition pro-Israel at the Israeli Plaza in Guatemala City, where we started to develop our strategy, and for the first time we prayed that under President Trump’s Government, the US Embassy would be moved to Jerusalem.
Our wish was for Guatemala to support President Trump’s decision, and move our Guatemalan Embassy back to Jerusalem. We designed this idea to attract Prime Minister Netanyahu to come to Guatemala to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the founding of the State of Israel.
Then, we made these Coffee Mugs with the image of our President and your Prime Minister shaking hands in Jerusalem, so that we could give them as presents to everyone that was involved in this process, and that could influence the decision to change our Embassy back to Jerusalem, so that they would always remember what happened.
Then, we met with our spiritual leaders, (Pastors: Romeo and Judith Guerra, Darío Parish, Luis Fernando Solares, Jorge Morales, Sarita Pezzarossi), and with Judith Melendez, representing the Israeli Embassy, to show them the letter we had written for the President, asking him to move the Embassy. We asked them to pray for the letter to be well received by President Morales.
Then, the letter was delivered to President Morales. A couple of months later, we had a turning point!! There was a lot of indignation in our Evangelical community because we received news that Guatemala was voting against Israel in the UN. This indignation was made known through the social media. Evangelical leaders asked the government and the Israeli Embassy for a meeting to discuss this issue. The church was outraged, and we let it be known to our government. Then the Evangelical Alliance of Guatemala which is the Organization that represents the Evangelical Church in Guatemala, of which we are members, had a Press Conference on December 10th, 2017, asking our President to decide to move our Embassy back to Jerusalem.
My husband Renaud and I spoke to our friend Dan Gillerman, and I told him about the whole situation in our country and asked him to urgently call Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to ask him to call our President, and ask him to move the Guatemalan Embassy in Haifa, back to Jerusalem. He was really excited to hear about what was going on in Guatemala and agreed to call Mr. Netanyahu on our behalf to ask him what we had proposed. We also told Dan that we wanted Mr. Netanyahu to come to Guatemala to give a conference that we would organize for the 70th Anniversary of the foundation of the Israeli State. Dan told us that there are going to be held celebrations during the whole year, so we don’t expect Prime Minister Netanyahu to come to Guatemala in the first half of the year. He told us that he would get us a meeting with Mr. Netanyahu in Israel so that we would go and try to convince him directly. To our surprise, a couple of days later, President Jimmy Morales announced that he had decided to move our Embassy back to Jerusalem.
A united Evangelical Christian Church is stronger and very difficult to stop. Together we will continue to achieve many goals.
Now we must apply these victories all over the world. Our organization has made a lot of contacts worldwide throughout the years, and we are already making the strategic planning to duplicate what we have achieved in Guatemala elsewhere.
Never in the history of Guatemalan government have we had an Evangelical President, and an Evangelical Foreign Affairs´s Minister working side by side at the same time. This was 100% the hand of God, and the other 100% was given by all of those who were involved in this decision to relocate our Embassy. Bashert!
We thank the Lord for the overwhelming response to our prayers.
Please be sure that we will continue working as hard as we can for your country, Israel.
Note that the statement made by our President to move the Guatemalan Embassy only takes us to the next level. Now the strategy is to continue praying so that all the necessary circumstances are given for the physical transfer of our Embassy to the indivisible and eternal city of Jerusalem. When this is accomplished, we will have gone up another step and at this new and third level, we will have to continue praying for follow-up of these decisions and actions in the following governments of Guatemala.
From now on we have to pray and try in all possible ways, that the following Presidents of Guatemala are totally committed to fulfill the will of the Most High God.
Finally, thanks to all those who let themselves be used in one way or another by the Lord, to make this important step happen.
Besides, since November 14th, Guatemala is holding a seat on the World Heritage Committee of the United Nations Organization for Education (UNESCO), which will give us the opportunity to show more our allegiance to Israel.
Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful time in Guatemala:
Seize the Nations for Jesus Christ Team salutes you!
Else Cuchet
